SITE UNDER CONSTRUCTION! WE ARE WORKING DAILY TO MAKE THIS SITE AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD AND FULL DOCUMENTATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
This site was created to allow access to all information available about one of the most spectacular historic buildings of the world, the Mausoleum of Uljaitu in Sultaniyya.
In spite of its immense importance in the history of Islamic architecture, it is surprising how little information is available about this monument and how much of this information is out of date, plain wrong or incomplete. Many significant scholarly articles are published in specialized media and are not easily available to the general public. Many others have been presented in international symposia and have not been published at all.
In an effort to make this information available to the public as soon as possible the site was created in a simple format and is in actuality a work in progress. This was done to allow other scholars and colleagues to make changes, add contributions and updates as the site is being finalized. In the interim I apologize for all shortcomings, inconsistencies and the lack of completeness.
Our goal is to incorporate the main body of the work regarding Sultaniyya in this site by April 2014 and improve upon the site as we progress.
The entire documentation in this site is available to the public free of charge. All drawings and photographs, articles and quotes can be used for academic research by all. Photos and drawings are watermarked only to ensure proper credit to their authors. High resolution photos and drawings without the watermark can be downloaded from the site at no cost.
We encourage and welcome contributions to the site.
A special area is created for comments and suggestions. We look forward to hear from you and will make every effort to improve the site, its layout and the format of the information presented to make this monument as accessible to all as possible.
